Today's Smoothie
Oct. 23rd, 2021 10:51 pmToday we made a smoothie with:
1 cup local apple cider
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 Goldrush apple, cored and quartered
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup ice
dash of pumpkin pie spice
This is really good. It's on the thin side and creamy colored, quite sweet and appley with hints of spice. It's more apple pie flavored than previous attempts with cider smoothies. :D This year's cider is excellent. I quite like the Goldrush apples -- they're small, greenish with a red cheek, nicely balanced sweet-tart with a spicy note. The clerk at the orchard said they're all-purpose apples. We got a good-sized bag so I'll probably try them with cooking, especially if I can find some pork in the freezer. Or maybe apple bread.

Poem: "We Are What We Are"
Oct. 23rd, 2021 11:15 pmThis poem is spillover from the October 5, 2021 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from
ng_moonmoth and Shirley Barrette. It also fills the "Sometimes we are what we are, and we should embrace that." square in my 10-1-21 card for the Fall Festival Bingo. This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. It belongs to the Officer Pink thread of the Polychrome Heroics series. Its sequel is "We Get Along Best."
