[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday with a theme of "wanderlust." Leave prompts, get a ficlet! Boosting the signal makes a longer story. There's also a donation goal with perk:

"Because this is also in hopes of generating funds, all of which are spent on medical bills, I'm hoping to reach a total of $50 in tips. Sponsor a story, and it will be posted straightaway, and if I reach the goal amount, I'll also post three interconnected one-shots that illustrate the recent and rapid changes in Haruko's life, totaling a bit over 5500 words. The stories are complete save for titles, and sequence markers, and make a particularly fun contrast to the recent story written by [personal profile] siliconshaman, with my gleeful permission."

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are three open epics.   We're full until at least one of these concludes.

"Energy, Made Visible" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Shiv. Now Shiv flibbers over being unable to earn ALL the pretty colors at once.

"Only If It Is Embraced" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Damask. In which a supervillain and a cop argue over donuts.

"Mask of the White Demon" is now complete.  Find out about the mask.

"When You Strike and Overcome Him" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Officer Pink and has four new verses.  Ansel talks with some of the other superheroes on the raid.

The weather has been variable here, sometimes mild and other times sweltering.  We got soaked once when we went out and it was raining.  Seen at the birdfeeders this week: sparrows, several cardinals, big flocks of of house finches, and a few doves.  In bloom: marigolds, gazania, blue lobelia, white alyssum, zinnias, torenia, salvia, cleome, petunia, million bells, snapdragons, lantana, coreopsis, dianthus, peppers, basil, begonia, morning glory, yellow wildflowers, blackberry lilies, cup plant, spiderwort, echinacea, naked lady lilies, and sundry others. Crabapples, apples, and pears have green fruit.

Today we went out again.

We stopped at Flesor's Candy Kitchen for ice cream.  I got a black walnut sundae with hot fudge and hot caramel.  The ice cream was excellent, as was the hot fudge.  They put all the sauce on the bottom, though, and added extra nuts I hadn't asked for.  The caramel congealed into rubbery little blobs, so I'm unlikely to get that again.  But I'd be happy to get more of the ice cream.  I wasn't impressed with the raspberry milkshake that Doug got.  We bought some more candies, too.  So far I have eaten the coconut cluster, which is among the best I have had.  They do make really great, creamy chocolate there.  <3
