Monday Yardening
May. 28th, 2018 03:25 pmToday is sunny and sweltering. :P
Round One, I cut grass around the next set of 6 spaces where the privets will go in the savanna.
EDIT 5-28-18: Round Two, I went out with Doug while he dug holes for the privets. It's so hot I didn't have the energy to stick plants in the holes yet. Need to cool off first.
EDIT 5-28-18: Round Three, I planted and covered the last of the privets. \o/ I still need to water and mulch them.
EDIT 5-28-18: Round Four, I refilled the hopper feeder. I saw the indigo bunting today too. I watered the privets and some of the potted plants.
EDIT 5-28-18: Round Five, I planted morning glories and moonflowers around the telephone pole wire. I also potted up the curled parsley, flat parsley, basil, and remaining snapdragons.
EDIT 5-28-19: Round Six, I mulched around the 6 newest privets. As I am out of both energy and sunlight, I am done for the day.

heartsinger has been hard at work updating the poetry pages. So far An Army of One, Clay of Life, A Conflagration of Dragons, Feathered Nests, Glimpses of Minoa (on the Serial Poetry page), and Monster House are current. Fiorenza the Wisewoman is updated, now with corrected sizing and added information about seasons. More are waiting in the queue for me to go over. \o/ Yay, progress!
Poetry in Microfunding:
"Marks of Devotion" belongs to Kande's Quest. Kande ventures into the underworld in search of her brother.
"Energy, Made Visible" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Shiv. Dr. G and Shiv discuss what could be done with different sets of creme pastels.
"Only If It Is Embraced" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Damask. Ham grumbles over the arrangements.
The weather has been hot and mostly dry. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: sparrows, mourning doves, several cardinals, some brown-headed cowbirds, some robins, a pair of goldfinches, a pair of house finches, a brown thrasher, and an indigo bunting. They are really enjoying the thistle seed. In bloom: pink chives, columbine, marigolds, gazania, blue lobelia, white alyssum, zinnias, sage, beebalm, yarrow, torenia, salvia, cleome, petunia, million bells, snapdragons, lantana, tickseed coreopsis, dianthus, peppers, blackberries, Washington hawthorn, red twig dogwood, and sundry others. Peonies and iris are almost done blooming. Raspberries, crabapples, and cherries have green fruit. Mulberries have green or slightly pink fruit. I have some of the saplings left to plant, and about two and a half flats of potted plants. And it's over 90F outside, which means I shouldn't really be out doing yardwork, so I have to do it in short sessions, making it take longer.
