Here are some habits of intelligent minds.  Most of these are standard for me, which I'd say "doesn't everyone?" except there are so many obvious idiots in the world.  A few are not part of my repertoire.

Cottoncandy Bingo: "THE Woman" (Part 2 of 5)

This story fills another square on my card for the cottoncandy_bingo fest. It's the first crossover that I've done for the card. Begin with Part 1.

Prompt: Getting away from it all
Medium: Fiction
Summary: Morgan sneaks away from the rest of Schrodinger's Heroes. Sherlock sneaks away from John. Their paths cross in the same bar -- and they discover that they're both there to drown very similar memories of the same person.
Content Notes: Spoilers for BBC Sherlock Season 2. Flangst. Questionable use of alcohol to deal with personal problems. Sloppy, funny drunks. Oblique references to violence, manipulation, and other mayhem. Happy ending.

Tuesday Update 9-11-12

So we found out that a storm broke the mounting for an antenna on the tower, causing it to move randomly, causing our net connection to blip in and out.  That's fixed now, so service should return to what passes for normal here.  I'm slowly digging through the backlog.

And there's new fiction!  "Riordan: Making Worlds" is a haunting inside view about doing the best you can with crappy options.  "Mira: Leaving Raenarin" is a creepy yet compelling fish-out-of-water story.  "Astrid: Arriving in Little Hill" is an uplifting story about meeting others of the same species.  "19. Persephone: Watching Mab With Hecate" captures the conflict between whether or not to get involved with someone else's mistakes.

If you like worldbuilding, this is a great time to go look at these examples.  Even as thumbnails they are distinctive, different from each other yet still fitting together.

This month's theme was "rights and responsibilities."  I worked from about 1:15 PM to 1:30 AM, so about 10 hours 15 minutes, allowing for lunch and supper breaks.  I started with offline prompts, then got a steady flow of new prompts, which tapered off.  I wrote 12 poems, just over half of them epics.  Most were combined prompts, and all free verse.

Activity was low.  Only 12 people sent prompts.  There were 32 comments on LiveJournal and another 2 on Dreamwidth, including mine.  Not much crosstalk either.
