Obama Shines on Global Warming
Mar. 5th, 2008 10:57 amPaul Loeb -- who bought one of my poems for an anthology on the politics of hope -- has written a thoughtful essay comparing the strength of the leading presidential candidates on global warming. He argues that Obama has the best ability to get other people willingly and passionately invested in the process of damage control. That makes sense; Obama is good at motivating people, and the necessary changes to slow global warming will be a very hard sell. I'm pleased that someone has found a practical use for his charisma, since he's often criticized for being impractical. Hillary, and even McCain -- they're practical, but in this case they'd be pushing a car uphill when Obama could climb in and turn the engine on.
