Today's Adventures
Apr. 25th, 2026 11:11 pmToday we went to the Douglas-Hart Nature Center for their Earth Day celebration and native plant sale.
I picked out 15 small pots. This was a mistake. I should have gotten 16 to fill that section of tray more securely. But I'm very happy with the little perennials I got -- several kinds of wild mint, some new coneflowers, a different goldenrod than I have, etc. Then I spotted the tree seedlings in pots at a ridiculous bargain. :D 3q3q3q!!! I picked up a tulip poplar, a red oak, and two persimmons.\
Because the pots were unstable -- the persimmons are in tall narrow ones that barely stand up at all -- we went home to drop them off.
Then we went back out for other errands. We got lunch at Panda Express.
We stopped at Home Depot to get a 25' ribbon hose. My partner Doug spotted some hose washers, so we picks up a pack of those to try and reduce the amount of leakage between hose and faucet. If that doesn't work, I'll probably just stick a bucket underneath it.
Next we went to Charleston. We visited County Market for groceries. We swung by Thrifty Findz to pick up a payment for stuff we dropped off -- they're a more selective place and will buy nicer items, then hand back or donate the leftovers. We just let them donate the leftovers, less work for us. We picked up mail on the way home.
It was a lot of running around, but very productive.
