Our ears are very powerful tools for peceiving differences in harmonics mixes that the eye can struggle to pick up in spectrum traces. In my field of audio production, there was a lot of info from the tech services engineers about how to measure a proper stereo field for broadcast and we production ops would always just use our ears and get it spot on.

It's like feeling, there's a strong emotional connection to the differences in tone, so rebanding and listening to the radio telescope signals makes sense as part of the range of observational tools humans have always used to understand the universe around us.

Science 🔭 usually helps me feel better (right now I feel dull, sad, and hopeless)

I'll revisit this after dinner and see how I feel then.
