I took some pictures around the yard today. Most of these are from the house yard and south lot. We also visited the Charleston Food Forest, which is starting to wake up, but since that wasn't a preplanned stop, I didn't have my camera with me.

This is the view looking east over the house yard. Much of it is still brown, but the grass has just started to green up and grow. Bulbs are sprouting and the first few are blooming.

A wide view of the rain garden shows crocuses blooming all over, columbine sprouting in the middle, and purple heuchera leafing out at the back right.

Here is a closeup of the white and striped crocuses.

Several tiny insects are visiting these white crocuses. I plant early-blooming bulbs to feed the first insects that emerge.

The columbine is sprouting.

Several of these spring bulbs are sprouting in the forest garden.

Under the maple tree, daffodils are budding.

Yellow crocuses are blooming under the contorta willow.

This is a view of the south lot looking east toward the garden shed.

This is the south lot looking west toward the septic garden.

These are some of the seed pots I have going outdoors, although nothing has sprouted yet.

Here is the septic garden. Yarrow, garlic chives, and sedum are already sprouting.

Looking southwest, the fields haven't been planted yet. I saw several tractors out today, so farmers are starting their spring work.

Looking northwest, the fields seem lighter and there is a farm in the distance.
