Good News

Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your life a little happier?

<Because I had to get a new email provider, I lost touch with one of my old friends in Australia. Yesterday I managed to reconnect with him, which made me very happy.

I have had some luck on my job hunt. I have had 2 interviews for a position in the last 5 days and I have a final interview for Friday. They have followed up after the 2 interviews faster then the standard timeframe I was told. I'm excited about getting a stable income again even if it's not as high pay as I had before.

Medical checkup

I had a checkup today, and it went surprisingly well, considering it was with a new GP.

I got to hold my ten week old baby niece for about twenty minutes on Monday. It was lovely.

In November/December I applied for 4 internal positions at my company that would have effectively been a promotion. I'd been waiting a year for a position of this type to be posted so the fact that there were 4 of them at the same time made me optimistic. I was turned down for all of them. :(

I did ask for feedback and what I got basically amounted to "you're wonderful, but we found someone else who has this little additional niche skill that fits us to a T". I'm genuinely glad that the they got so many eligible candidates that they could afford to be picky. At the same time, I really wish that I was that perfect candidate and someone would give me the opportunity to grow.

Given how rarely there are openings for this particular position, I had resigned myself to either another year of looking, or having to get creative to find advancement within the coming year. Then, miraculously this week there are two more jobs posted that fit my criteria. I've applied to both of them and reached out to the hiring manager for one because I feel that I would be a really good fit and she's someone with whom I am acquainted.

I'm always wary of having optimism about my job prospects but a part of my lives in hope. Maybe this time it's my turn?
