I had the honor of meeting him once, several years back. He was touring Rain City and did a show at the Seattle Public Library. He was quite warm and kind and genuinely seemed to enjoy connecting with his fans after the show.

I do love “Puff The Magic Dragon.” That was quite an era, and so many genres were competing to be heard. Sadly, this style of folk music waned like dear Puff.

I miss it too. I'm not a big fan of most modern music. I tend to favor older styles. Especially, I like a capella or acoustic performances at events such as street fairs. Folk music is good for that; most modern music doesn't fare as well because it's designed for recording. But at once holiday fair we attended, there was a small group of carolers on the corner for a little while. It was much more charming than the live but microphoned band at another part of the event. Really, once you pipe it through a sound system, live performance doesn't have much over canned.
