Photos: Heading Back Toward the House

These are pictures from the return trip.
Walking back toward the house, these fallen branches in the savanna arch above the ground, providing a little highway for wildlife.

This long view of the flowerbeds shows how deep the snow is here, between the parking lot (left, east) and the Midwinter Grove (right, west).

That's probably 10-12 inches of snow covering the daffodil bed in a white blanket.

Here's a closeup of the little waves in the snow. I didn't have much luck photographing these today, as they need sunlight to throw shadows into relief.

Here we can look into the Midwinter Grove from its east end.

Coming around the corner of the house, we can see several birds in the bushes of the forest garden, probably sparrows, possibly house finches or dark-eyed juncos.

This is likely a dark-eyed junco.

After this, I went back indoors and made myself a cup of hot chocolate. <3 winter.
