1. Most everyone will recommend a book or two to read, but are there any you would tell people to avoid?
The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. Mom and I bought it because so many people were going berserk trying to censor it. A fun memory, but a boring book.
2. If you take a book on vacation, are you more likely to take something you haven't read yet or an old favorite?
Something new, and I always take books on vacation, preferably at least one per day of trip because if I'm just sitting around reading before I fall asleep, they don't last long at all.
3. Do you read any genres by the season? Like horror around Halloween? Cozy Mysteries in the Winter? Romance in the Summer?
Sometimes, yes. I like the harmony. A blizzard always makes me want to break out Earth's Children or Icerigger.
4. If you read a lot of Fiction do you prefer an author that has a series with the same character(s), or do you prefer stand-alone stories?
Both, but for different reasons. If I'm shopping in a bookstore, it's gotten hard to find something that isn't the middle of the series, and they never keep the first one in stock anymore, so standalones are very useful. But I love series because they can do so much more with worldbuilding and character development. Lois McMaster Bujold and Anne Bishop are favorites for that.
5. Is there a book that you wish you could read again, but experience it like it was the first time?
Thinking about my favorites, I'm not sure it would be the same, and I wouldn't want to lose the memories.
