I sing "Dona Nobis Pacem" and "Let There Be Peace on Earth" as often and as loudly as I can. My vocal range includes all four counter-melodies of "Dona Nobis Pacem" (which impressed my operatically trained daughter-in-law). I wish I could set up a quiet space to use as a recording studio, and multi-track myself singing all the parts in harmony - behold The Overdub Sisters!

And I wrote an invocation to three American Goddesses:


Three Ladies, Guide and Guard Us


"Three American goddesses, guide and guard this nation during these tempestuous times:

"Lady Liberty, in whose name this nation was founded, you who are called Saint Freedom, Goddess of Democracy, Mother of Exiles, Liberty Enlightening the World.... Hold your torch high and enlighten the world with the ideals of hope, welcome, and freedom.

Lady Columbia, personification of the American spirit, strong, healthy, corn-fed, full of youthful zeal, and inspired by the concept of Progress... please lead us to Progress in human rights and respect for the planet.

Lady Justice, even with your blindfold on you can see how injustice flourishes. Use your scales and sword to help us restore the balance!"
