Watercolor painting is a hobby of making pictures with water-soluble, usually translucent pigments. It is the most affordable type of painting and also the most portable. It works great both indoors and out.

My favorite aunt, when I was a kid, did lovely watercolor paintings of the woods and lake near the family "summer cottage" in New Hampshire. She taught me a few of her techniques, and I inherited a nicely framed set of her paintings. Watercolors are capable of color effects that are difficult with oil paints - thin washes of color, or sunrise/sunset skies. And of course there are the cheap little water-paint kits they sell for children - seven pucks of different colors, a brush, and a molded cup for water. I'm not very good at painting or drawing; I can't make my hands create the image I see in my mind.

Absolutely true -- if you can give up the urge to control everything. Watercolor is like a cat, effortlessly beautiful but with a mind of its own.

The nice thing about watercolor is it grows with you. Even the most basic set can teach you a lot about how the medium works. If you buy decent brushes and a pad of actual watercolor paper, it can do considerably more, although it's never going to give the depth or detail of higher quality paint. The fact that you can get those kiddie kits for a buck apiece is what makes it valuable, because it's accessible to people who can't afford anything else.

Same here. All of have of my artistic talent in this life is my eye for color and my eye for composition. I do fine at media which rely mainly on those, like scrapbooking.

*chuckle* But with technology or magic that pulls directly from the mind, I can hexcast with six or more senses simumltaneously, even ones I don't have in that body. It freaks people out.

I've got a good eye for color (I'm a natural tetrachromat - I can see some UV) and a decent eye for composition. After Superstorm Sandy, I had to replace all the furniture in my living/dining room. I got compliments for the way it looked. I bought a small square IKEA rug to put on top of the wall-to-wall that was replaced; it's under the piano, visually breaking up the rather small room. It has a spiral design in dark blue. I have a dark blue sofa, and above the sofa I put a strange piece of 3D wall art in a metallic silver spiral. That harmonizes with the rug. And they replaced all my kitchen appliances, and they got a suite of stove/dishwasher/fridge in stainless steel, and they gave me black granite countertops. I put nickel/silver hardware on all the cabinets, and also the sink and faucets are stainless. I got compliments on that. So I must have something of a talent for interior decorating.

As far as spellcasting... I've got one or two extra senses, mostly involving electricity. If we ever meet in person, it's going to be VERY entertaining for us both!

Watercolor is particularly good for that, because it likes to flow its own way, rather than being controlled precisely. But any expressive art can help.
