Birdfeeding

Today is mostly sunny and sweltering again. I'm hearing thunder to the south but the sky overhead is clear.
I fed the birds. Lots of activity today -- a flock of house finches, a mourning dove, and out on the lawn a flock of grackles foraging.
I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- It's drizzling a bit! Yay! \o/
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I hauled a bag of potting soil down to the empty strip in the prairie garden. Then I started sowing Towers of Flowers. I put down a scoop of potting soil, a pinch of seeds, then more soil. I'll need to water these later, but at least I don't have to water everything else today. I got 6 hills done so far.
I've seen a fox squirrel at the hopper feeder.
It's still hot and steamy out, but less than earlier -- it's in the mid-80s now, down from mid-90s earlier. During the rain it was mid-70s. There's a chance of more rain tonight too. Witch us luck.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I sowed another 6 hills. This is about halfway up one side of the strip. I'm spacing them a foot or so apart to give the sunflowers room to grow.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I sowed another 6 hills.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I finished sowing the rest of the hills up the west edge of the tower strip.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I watered the new hills.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I sowed more seeds to fill gaps in the telephone pole garden, then watered them.
EDIT 6/17/24 -- I sowed more seeds to fill gaps in the septic garden, then watered them.
Lots of fireflies are out tonight. They like warm humid weather.
As it is now dark, I am done for the night.
