This is an advance post for Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (April 25-May15), so the resource will be ready on the first day. (See the introductory post from 2023.) This is the Threeweeks feed. Here is an advance announcement for the event.
Questions and questionnaires make great blog content, because they invite interaction. They're also among the fast, easy ways to make a post. So I gathered some materials and links to questionnaires ...
* Use introductions. If you run a community, provide a form so that new members can introduce themselves with their interests in the community's topic(s). A tag like "introduction" or "intro post" is helpful for organizing these. When you join a new community, look for an introduction form. If there isn't one, you can either do a casual introduction or make you own. Here is an example:

What I'm looking for:
* Use recurring posts. (This post also contains links to some blog prompts and questionnaires.) These work in any blog and/or community to highlight things beneficial to fannish connections, or other areas of interest. They also play a vital role in maintaining activity.
A very useful subtype of recurring post is the questionnaire. You find a list of questions, which may be random or thematic. Then you post them to your blog, one at a time, to prompt conversations. You can answer them yourself if you wish, which encourages more people to respond, but you don't have to; you can just post the question. This is one of the fastest, easiest ways to maintain blog activity because you don't have to think up anything from scratch.
* Watch for friendship memes, question memes, fests, and other communal activities. Participate in them. Do you fondly remember some examples that have fallen out of use? If you still have a copy, revive them. If not, make a new version and run that instead. You can post a whole list to a blog or community and invite people to pick a question for you to answer. If you post one question a day and answer it, however, then the discussions will run a lot longer. I have one such list running currently, Philosophical Questions. I've also done this at cons in green rooms or con suites -- just print out a list of interesting questions / discussion topics, cut the page apart, and put a few on each table.
* If you moderate a community, then announce that your community is doing Three Weeks for Dreamwidth. Create a questionnaire for it (or find a premade one). You can do other things too, like a rec fest or friending meme. This helps boost activity in your community.

Date: 2024-04-23 09:15 pm (UTC)You could certainly post about the event in communities that you host, and see if anyone is interested in doing stuff. I have questionnaires for mine in case folks want to participate that way. I also mention that crossposts are welcome if anyone's chosen theme overlaps the community theme. So for instance, last year my theme was Birds and I crossposted those entries to
See last year's introductory post for more ideas on how to participate.
