Oh, and the wildflowers? I bet they bloom like crazy, desert ones are designed to capitalize on water when it's available.

Date: 2024-02-17 08:54 am (UTC)So my bet is, if there's enough water in Death Valley to make an ephemeral lake, it's going to be a vivid season for flowers. The annuals will respond to a sudden gush, but the perennials will also respond to high enough ambient water that's lying around in the sand. I'd recommend creek-hiking, because water collects in low places even if you can't see it. Those desert plants will have roots going down for yards, they'll find it when it's there, and right now it's there.
