Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild.  It's supposed to snow tomorrow, though, so that means I'm putting off the clearing of the daffodil and tulip beds.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of sparrows and a fox squirrel.

I put out water for the birds.

I've seen sparrows and bluetits, magpies, rock pigeons, and what I think is a tit but not sure which exactly. Small like a bluetit but brown/grey body and with a white face like a miniature owl; RSPB suggested coal tit, long tailed tit, or pied wagtail. I've rarely seen coal tits, never seen long tailed tit in the garden, but did see some wagtails last year.
With male, female, juvenile plumage and quickness of these birds it's harder to identify them from a brief sighting!

We get redstarts occasionally. They look like tiny orioles on speed.

I had to look those up and they're both beautiful colours! (Although I had to add 'birds' because the first result for orioles came up with a baseball team :P)

We do get Baltimore orioles occasionally. That's what makes the redstarts so confusing. They look very similar but redstarts are a little smaller and much zippier. Like tiny sportcars with wings. :D
