Sooooo close! We have red-tailed hawks, occasionally kestrels, and great-horned owls in the area. Once I saw a hawk swoop through a flock of dozens of sparrows, miss ALL of them, narrowly avoid the kitchen window ... then land on a branch with distinctly "I meant to do that" body language.
That is the only time I have seen a hawk divebomb the feeders, but they are always welcome to do so. I run as complete an ecosystem as I can here. Occasionally I find owl pellets and enjoy observing them to see if I can figure out what the owl ate.
