Hobbies: Houseplants

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This batch features hobbies.
Wednesday evening we watched "In the Future: Houseplants." For all some of it was silly, and local humans are irresponsible with gengineering, I have to admit that some of the items were things I might actually build (like the light-up umbrella trees) and at least they did mention the ethical issues. What really snagged my attention was someone referring to houseplants as a hobby. I never really thought of it like that before; it's just part of my environment. But thinking on it now, this does make a great hobby, because it's affordable, anyone can do it, and it has lots of benefits. Especially when you get into the more exotic plants, the hobby aspect makes sense because of the challenge. Anyhow, houseplants are just any kind of plant grown indoors, mostly tropical jungle plants that like warm-ish temperatures and not-too-bright lighting.
I also discovered this interesting website, Fresh Hobby, with all kinds of things to explore.

Alternatively, some people turn an actual cabinet into a planter for tropical plants. Definitely not cat-accessible.
