Birdfeeding

Today is partly cloudy and mild.
I fed the birds. Lots of activity today! I've seen a flock of sparrows, a flock of mourning doves. a pair of house finches, a male cardinal, a robin, a dark-eyed junco, an eastern towhee, and two fox squirrels. :D We're into the spring season when migrating birds appear, who do not typically stay for a whole season. They're fun to watch.
The first plant shipment arrived today from Cold Stream Farm, so the spring planting season is now open. So far I have planted the witch hazel and the white oak. \o/
More things are leafing out and blooming. The first violets are blooming blue-and-white just south of the house, and the apricot there is showing white flowers buds.
EDIT 3/29/23 -- I planted the persimmon seedling in the streetside yard.
The cornelian cherry is blooming.
EDIT 3/29/23 -- I planted the chokeberry in the streetside yard.
EDIT 3/29/23 -- I broke up branches in the ritual meadow and added them to the firepit.
As it is now dark, I am done for the night.

>> One has muscadines, too. <<
My very favorite grapes. :D They don't grow this far north, but sometimes I can find the juice here.
>> And he found a good trellis - trying beans here this year.<<
In my Landrace series, I linked to places where you can get landrace beans, if you like surprises and don't want to fuss with the garden all the time.
>> Still trying to grow strawberries from seed, but someone might get some once the local nursery has theirs in.<<
Good luck with that. They're finicky to grow from seed.
