Haiku 1-3-23
winter's a moment --
like a leaf frozen in ice --
waiting for spring thaw
* * *
at sundown, the snow
whispers over the cold ground,
dragging in the night
* * *
the closed garden gate
is locked by a silver key
of ice at the latch
* * *
empty house waits for
the revelers to come home,
merry with cider
* * *
blue skies peek between
rolls of gray wool clouds, hinting
at sun never seen
* * *
wings flash scarlet in
the fading winter sunlight --
look! a cardinal!
* * *
the bitter apples,
disdained through autumn, become
a feast in winter
* * *
owls call in the night,
a parliament of questions,
midnight folk singing
* * *
the copper beeches
cling to their dead leaves until
spring tears them away
* * *
spring bulbs are creatures
of the underworld, dark earth
bursting with colors
* * *
clouds flitter across
the vast expanse of the sky,
a flight without end
* * *
in a mist, the road
comes and goes, now hidden, then
suddenly revealed
* * *
a red sky at morning
heralds a spring thunderstorm,
threshing the tulips
* * *
three students, caught in
the rain, hurry homeward past
the drinking flowers
* * *
plenty of sunshine
always follows the rain -- spring
can't make up its mind
* * *
observation marks
the change of seasons: ticking
of a mental clock
* * *

Yep, I used prompts from the Public Domain Day Bingo fest. There is a whole set of Sherlock Holmes prompts. I just mixed all the subsets together this time for my card.
