ysabetwordsmithThis poem came out of the January 3, 2023 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired and sponsored by nsfwords. It also fills the "One Hour of Love" square in my 1-1-23 card for the Public Domain Day Bingo fest. This poem belongs to the series Fiorenza the Wisewoman.

"Like a Flower"
-- a canzonetta
Fiorenza and Giacinto gather
In shady woods where none may see them meet.
Wildflowers foam like fragrant lather
Where passion swiftly sweeps them off their feet.
Fiorenza climbs him like a cedar;
Giacinto pulls her down to kiss her face.
Fiorenza lets him play the leader,
And loses herself in his fond embrace.
Fiorenza opens like a flower
Under her lover's hands, his knowing touch
Minute by minute, hour by hour
Until the ecstacy becomes too much.
Gasping, she grasps hair like so much sable;
Her limbs fall slack and she feels her heart race.
Fiorenza laughs, her breath unstable,
And loses herself in his fond embrace.
