Jul. 26th, 2022 04:16 pmToday is cloudy and mild. It rained steadily for several hours last night.
I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of house finches and a lady cardinal.

Date: 2022-07-27 03:35 am (UTC)For future reference, watch for heat/drought remediation efforts you can promote in your area. Popular options include:
* Plant trees and other cover. Plants transpire moisture into the air, helping to moderate the environment.
* Rain gardens, bioswales, hugelkulture (above or below ground), and mulch all help to catch and hold whatever water there is. Kidney gardens aka marsh filters clean runoff before it gets into ponds or larger waterways.
* Light-colored hardscaping (streets, sidewalks, etc.) instead of blacktop reflects more heat instead of absorbing it.
Our yard here is layered like a rainforest, and it's usually 5-10 degrees cooler than surrounding fields during hot weather.
