Birdfeeding

Today is sunny, steamy, and hot. 

I fed the birds.  I've seen several sparrows and a fox squirrel. 

EDIT 7/11/22 -- I watered the barrel garden.

The other day I saw an American Goldfinch in a bush under my window, and I thought of you.

Goldfinches live in this area, but don't always settle in our yard. They move around in spring and fall. Occasionally we see them in summer, more often in winter when food is harder to find. They're beautiful, but they're pigs. A few of them can drain a thistle sock surprisingly fast for as tiny as they are. :D

She was probably getting some of the tent-strands of the brown-tailed moth caterpillars that infest our fire bushes. She's welcome to all of it!

Yeah, the tent silk does protect them from a lot, but it also attracts certain birds. And even birds who are typically seed-eaters can be distracted by a hotdog stand. :D
