I took a few more pictures of my yard today. The lighting still isn't great, but there's a lot going on.

The first violet is blooming by the drain hose.  More water in the forest garden, and in this case extra heat from the black hose, help the plants here leaf out faster in spring.  This violet is solid purple.  Those and the blue-and-white kind are common in much of our yard.  There are a few solid white ones scattered around, and I have one yellow that I planted in the forest garden.

The hosta leaves are unfurling from spindles into their usual paddle shape, although they are nowhere near mature yet.

The cistern garden has a fresh coat of compost, now spread smooth by heavy rain.  What looks like grass is actually a lot of volunteer garlic chives, along with a tidier clump of regular chives in the upper left corner.

Flowers grow around the base of the contorta willow tree.

Some of the flowers are blue grape hyacinths, although these are a lighter blue than the typical indigo.

This rabbit was at the edge of the orchard.

More daffodils are blooming in the daffodil garden.  I have many different kinds in here, and a few have seeded themselves just east of the garden proper, in the parking lot gravel.  Currently blooming are a mix of plain yellow trumpet and mostly white daffodils.  There are some with pink or orange that will appear later.

The cool tones of the blue and violet flowers are so subtle. I used to have blue hyacinths and irises at Old Home and now the New Yard sports red, cerise and salmon flowers, so I planted a white rosebush just to, you know, lend some quiet to the palette.
