The Sunrise Strip Mall is described in the notes for "Why People Hold Onto Memories."
The Woodwerx farm has 530 acres, including a sustainable forestry business and a large woodworking shop. It has 23,000 board feet of growing cherry trees, 48,000 board feet of white ash, 97,000 board feet of yellow birch and white birch, and 256,000 board feet of sugar maple among other species.
A logging truck moves the fallen trees. A sawmill turns the logs into boards. The green boards spend a year drying in the lower level of the heated barn.
The exterior of the workshop shows the back side with loading docks for the board storage area. The 160-year-old heated barn has 3 stories spanning 8,400 square feet, connected to the house by a heated tunnel. To the left, a pond lies at the bottom of the back yard.
The workshop includes many woodworking tools and enough space for over a dozen people to work at the same time. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light. The shop has radiant floor heating and a central dust-collection system.
A woodshed holds firewood. The sustainable forestry has supplied wood for over 100 homes, pulpwood for local papermaking, wood chips for fuel, and brush piles for wildlife habitat.
The front of the farmhouse has a flagstone walkway.
Inside, the great room includes a dining table, couches and chairs, and a woodstove. A row of windows look out over the back yard.

Solar panels occupy part of the yard.
A 15-acre lake nestles in the midst of the farm.
Wildlife includes loons and moose.
