Challenge #5
In your own space, talk about an idea you wish you had the time / talent / energy to do. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

For years I have wished for a crowdfunding hub that would host all kinds of projects and flexible funding options. There are funding hubs for all kinds of projects, but none of them host and they tend toward rigid pay structures. There are fanwork sites for all kinds of projects, but they're downright hostile to funding even for original work. There are host sites that fund, but they're all for individual project types, like webcomics. So for people who who want to create or support crowdfunded goodies, it can be very difficult to connect. You have to hunt around for a site that kinda-sorta does some of what you need, and try to assemble the rest as best you can. :/
I know a considerable amount about what such a hub would need. I can outline it. Somewhere I've got notes from several previous rounds of discussion about it; this topic comes up periodically on
crowdfunding. But it has never amounted to more than that. I can only see the need and imagine a solution. I can't code, so I can't actually build it. >_<

Date: 2022-01-10 08:37 pm (UTC)I could be of some use to such a project. I'd need to learn a lot, but it's of sufficient importance I could stick with it, given people to work with. But I can't be in charge, if I have to be in charge of any more things I will lose it. I'm good at problem-finding, efficiency-discovering, and small to medium subprojects. And I generally need to talk things through to really get them...
