Activist Desmond Tutu has passed away. Among his accomplishments, he helped bring down apartheid in Africa.

I have the honor of being an alumna of a school from which he held an honorary doctorate of divinity. He was the Commencement speaker in 1987, the year before I graduated, and needless to say he was amazing.

Oberlin (my alma mater) has a lot of cool alums. I can't decide between Tutu and William Goldman as to who's the coolest.
