Oregano is one of the few herbs that tends to work better when dried than when fresh. I suggest that you pick off a sprig and dry it, then compare with bottled oregano. If yours is still weaker, then consider doing things to emulate a Mediterranean environment.

* Make a container garden.
* A rock garden is great in cooler climates because it forms a heat sink.
* Install an herb spiral. This gives you many microclimates for herbs with different tastes.
