Wallflower is a common species in my home county where it got in from Normandy in the early medieval period.

That's cool.

I didn't even know what it was until somebody else pointed it out. Just something I'd planted because it was pretty, some time, and it volunteered.

Huh. Had no idea comfrey is useful until now! May need to hunt some down.

Comfrey has many uses:

* It attracts bees. Lots and lots of bees.

* Comfrey is what permaculture calls a "miner" plant, its roots drilling deep into the subsoil to bring up nutrients.

* It can be used as fertilizer in many ways, from slash-and-drop to compost to putting the leaves in a bucket of water until they dissolve.

* Comfrey has medicinal applications.

I use comfrey as a miniature tree guild because it performs several roles.
