The Tony Hawk Texture Park fills an awkward notch between buildings, put in after a fire destroyed the one between. It's named after skateboarder Tony Hawk. On the left stands a mixed-use building with retail on the bottom floor, then offices, then apartments on the top. On the right lies a cluster of multiplex apartment buildings and small office buildings. Each side has its own foundation landscaping along the buildings, In the middle lies a whimsical patchwork plaza made from poured concrete, stone, wood, sand, and other materials. Shaped concrete curbs, low retaining walls, and geometric seats offer opportunities for skateboarding. The different textures also invite people to walk around the park and clamber over its structures. A water garden on the right provides a precious resource for local wildlife. Many native plants appear in the landscaping such as low-growing grasses and a central rock garden of succulents and other dryland plants. Tony Hawk Texture Park is also a popular place for small gatherings, busking, and sidewalk sales because it's mostly paved with room for people to move around, and it's not in the main flow of foot traffic.
People -- especially police -- often discriminate against those with dyed hair, tattoos, piercings, or other body modifications. Not everyone with bodymods is a criminal, but these are very popular in the underworld, which makes the discrimination difficult to fix.
