Music Videos
Feb. 23rd, 2021 03:32 amMy partner Doug found some good music videos.
"Battle Music" sets up a world where people duel with music. It's sort of Wild West/Steampunk fusion, and would be great for writing in. :D The combat mode reminds me very much of haka.
"Master of Tides" includes some of the best water fountain programming that I've seen. I am intrigued by the idea of doing concerts in public space without announcing them in advance -- so nobody has to pay to enjoy the music, it's free to whoever is in the right place at the right time, very egalitarian.

I think you'd like her videos for the album Artemis
She's also very good at fusing music, like her Endgame of Thrones

Date: 2021-02-23 06:34 pm (UTC)I like the idea of dance battles as conflict resolution. (Illustrating group cohesiveness, perhaps?)
There was a kids movie where some of the 'bad guys' had a dance battle to decide who got to kidnap the protagonist. And then the protagonist won the whole confrontation by joining in on the dance battle, followed by pointing out that if they worked together against the Big Bad (instead of fighting) they could all get what they wanted.
I have wondered if dancing could be used as nonviolent deescalation in Real Life. It would certainly make a good distraction, and routinely affects emotions of participants and observers. Plus some dance styles involve movement that is distracting to people who want to focus on punching someone (or is similar to some 'defuse the combatants' crowd maneuvers). (Plus the idea of defusing a brawl by dancing the Hokey Pokey is kind of hilarious.)
Flash mob concerts?
:)
Here's a good one of a saxophonist entertaining his neighbors:

And a friendly saxophone duel on the NY subway:

I've also thought it might be amusing for all those information booth thingies people set up to have entertainment. (Kinda like busking, only you take fliers for the local food pantry or whatever.)

Date: 2021-02-24 06:45 pm (UTC)Could do a meet-in-the-middle compromise, i.e. "Every Saturday from 10-2 come to the park for the dance concert competition, right across from the farmer's market.
Or do a mix-and-match: some paid, some not, some scheduled, some not. That way everyone gets something.
Plus if you have attracted a bunch of compatible artsy folks (and especially if you provide resources), they'll start producing art without any further input.

Date: 2021-02-24 09:26 pm (UTC)One reason I love busking is because it happens in places where the most people go. If they're traveling, they're using sidewalks, bus stations, subways -- I've even heard buskers on ferries.
