The February Poetry Fishbowl has launched two new series, both introductory poems now posted.
* "Soul Song" features a setting where soulmarks guide people to compatible partners (sexual or platonic) but sometimes complicate life.
* "Laundry, Liturgy, and Women's Work" presents a post-apocalyptic setting with a relatively positive tone as people work to rebuild new societies in the Aftermath. If you read it when it first came out, check the notes, because it took days to get those up and there are a lot of them to describe the new setting.
The Rose and Bay Awards are open for voting. The voting period runs February 1-28. Go vote for your favorite projects! Use the nomination posts to learn more about them. Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in participating.
My February goal is wok study. You can read along with me for foodpr0n even if you don't use a wok. Here are the relevant posts:
We Have a Wok
Wok Study
Recipe: "Ginger Pork Stir-Fry with Mushroom"
Today's Cooking: Orange Beef
Wok Recipes
Oyster Sauce
Recipe: "Chicken with Pineapple"
Recipe: "Bell Pepper Beef"
Recipe: "Chicken with Baby Corn Stir-Fry"
Poetry in Microfunding:
There are two open epics at present.
"A Celebration and a Consolation" belongs to Polychrome Heroics. Keira's father dumps her mother on Yule.
"The Best Understanding of Their Differences" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Calliope and has 3 new verses. Calliope and Vagary consider the aftermath of the bubble fight.
The weather has been cold and partly cloudy most of the week. Today it is frigid and still snowing. The snow is drifting more too. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a large flock of sparrows, a flock of cardinals, a flock of mourning doves, several dark-eyed juncos, Bewick's wren, a downy woodpecker, and two squirrels.
