President Biden has canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline and rejoined the Paris Agreement.  \o/

So, after saving the world on Day 1, it will be interesting to see what he does next.

I voted for him as damage control, and he has very quickly exceeded my expectations.

And for all the citizenry grumbling about politics, it remains minor grumbling instead of major mayhem, which frankly exceeded my expectations. (Knock wood.)

Yay! :)

Also issued an executive order expanding queer nondiscrimination protections! His damage control seemingly extends to things before the last four years. I'm pleased.

I had not seen that. Great news. I need to find the list. I know he was going to sign things today, but I hadn't seen what.

I was so excited to see that Keystone was cancelled. I didn't know he was going to do that, but he'd said early on that he was going to rejoin the Paris Agreement. I'm so hoping he gets COVID under control. I think that's the next thing. There's so much to do and to fix after the last four-years, but I think that has to be next unless I'm missing something. All those lights and flags at the DC reflecting pool are just heart breaking. I got to thinking. I wonder if he did anything about the kids that the last administration separated from their families. There's so much to fix.

He ordered wall construction stopped, internal ICE enforcement stopped pending review, top priority to find the parents or other relatives of the separated kids, that the "make them wait in Mexico" policy be suspended, that the Dreamer's program resume accepting applications and that any Dreamer deportations be stopped, and I don't remember what else. And that was all on the afternoon of inauguration day! Basically, if T. did it by executive order, or if it could be stopped or reversed by executive order, he did so. I was very impressed.

Citizenship is in the longer-term planning, but for that he needs the cooperation of Congress. And McConnel's negativity is still a force to be reckoned with, damn it.

I'm impressed, too, and very happy and relieved. I knew he had quite a list on that first day and yesterday as well, but I hadn't seen it yet. It feels good to have someone in the White House who is moral and does something about it.

I keep seeing political news that’s... good. It’s honestly kind of disconcerting. Welcome, but disconcerting!

Also doing away with the horrible treatment of trans people in your military as brought in by TAFKAT (the apeshit formerly known as Trump).

And hiring competent people who actually know how to do the job. That's a biggy and I think part of why he's been able to move so fast.

And he clearly *listens*. that's refreshing.
