Dec. 31st, 2020 03:26 amFolks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list on self-awareness.
63. When did you last make a new friend?
Gosh, I don't know. I pick up new folks online fairly often.

Date: 2020-12-31 06:52 pm (UTC)Losing people is sadly common in a society that makes people move more and more often. It's ruinous to long-term relationships -- and when people don't get that experience, they don't develop the skills to do it when they have the opportunity.
Me, I'm having a harder and harder time investing in facetime relationships beyond the trivial, because so few of them last more than a year or few. The effort is high and the payoff very low. :/
We have very few local contacts, and one of them dumped us this year. :/
We have a handful of facetime friends who live farther out that we see occasionally.
The vast majority of my friends are online, where it is much easier to find people of compatible interests and intelligence, with venues where we can interact regularly. I have many more meaningful friendships online, and they seem to last longer on average.
