February, the heart of California's rainy season, may yield no rain this year due to a high-pressure system redirecting storms into Washington.
Well, they're fucked. Water shortages and a devastating fire season will follow. O_O
Just in case anyone needed more reasons to get while the getting's good.

Well ...
Date: 2020-02-16 10:55 am (UTC)Another problem is that humans are killing off the terraformers. There used to be redwoods managing the West Coast water system; most of these are now gone. Continued destruction of forests elsewhere is destabilizing formerly secure areas also. In regards to this, it would be a great idea to quit cutting down trees and instead plant more of them. Most valuable of all are the hardcore terraformers like redwoods, aspens, oaks, and mangroves that define whole ecosystems.
