February, the heart of California's rainy season, may yield no rain this year due to a high-pressure system redirecting storms into Washington.

Well, they're fucked.  Water shortages and a devastating fire season will follow.  O_O

Just in case anyone needed more reasons to get while the getting's good.

While we have rather more rain than we know what to do with- two months' worth in less than a week.

Shame we can't move it around globally!

Moving weather is possible. It is harder than it used to be, partly because the weather spirits have gone feral in their fury and no longer want anything to do with two-legs. In regards to this, try petitioning the land spirits instead so they can deal with the weather spirits.

Another problem is that humans are killing off the terraformers. There used to be redwoods managing the West Coast water system; most of these are now gone. Continued destruction of forests elsewhere is destabilizing formerly secure areas also. In regards to this, it would be a great idea to quit cutting down trees and instead plant more of them. Most valuable of all are the hardcore terraformers like redwoods, aspens, oaks, and mangroves that define whole ecosystems.
