Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your life a little happier?

This morning the StopLeak stopped or slowed the radiator leak, which is good because tomorrow is a 34 mile trip on the freeway! I anticipate that the bus we're sloping off to meet will prove as good an experience as last time on the 110 mile round trip. The VA drivers are so thoughtful. :)

In other news, I DVR'd some TCM movies, first time DVR'ing and all turned out well. :D

I hope you have a good trip!

A bit of advice from someone who once owned a car with a leaky radiator that eventually caused the engine seals to blow: While StopLeak is pretty dang good at what it does, it's not necessarily great for the engine, and it does break down after a while (usually three to six months, depending on how heavily the vehicle gets used, and what fluids it's in contact with). Eventually you have to actually fix the radiator, and that usually means a replacement. I hope you can gather the funds for that if you plan to keep the vehicle.

Thanks for the thoughts - the trip going went well, a little over an hour; the trip returning included a fatal accident on the interstate and return trip lasted over two hours. It was awful considering the circumstances of the traffic problem.

Good anecdote, thanks for sharing. Yes, the radiator fix is in the works. I'm just glad the HOT needle on the dash stayed in its usual place for the trip to meet the bus. It was about 100 today which made the trips a real nail-biter. :S

We have a new admin assistant who is simultaneously kind, competent, and a good self-advocate. I was training him yesterday in my usual slapdash method of "I'm going to run down my training checklist and get you the basics, stopping at the point where you can log in and use your phone" and he listened and took notes, then made an organized list of what he needed for follow-up, went through that with me till my "pick up the child" alarm went off, and said he'd make a list for today.

Maybe this is a Hornstein Program graduate thing; Awesome Boss who built our finance and operations systems from the ground up (beginning with the first merger 12 years ago between two tiny grassroots organizations) is also a Hornstein graduate. (She left 5? years ago, feeling that she wanted to go do something else.)

So, in a year, I'll feel comfortable leaving if I need to, since I think he could easily move into my job by then. *g*

(Love the organization. Love the coworkers. Hate the drive.)

Corporate decided we aren't allowed to have desk houseplants any more, which is obnoxious because I used those to break up sightlines around my desk and lower the general anxiety level of working in a wide open space with so many people in it. (They cite flammability. Dudes, we live in a glass building. There is not a lot you can do to improve its safety and MUCH you can do to improve its comfort.)

Today, I brought in a fancy lantern I'd stuffed with fake plants (and a video game figure, because: nerd). Not only do I have something pretty to hang my eyes on now, it got a bunch of compliments from coworkers. \o/

Yuuuuup.

They've been provided those references already. I'm certainly not the only person who fussed, and my boss, who is a good boss, bought us another six months or so of having plants by just not enforcing the rule.

The other silver lining here is that a coworker's spouse is a houseplant person, and is taking good care of my office plants. I have an herbicidal cat, so taking them home wasn't in the cards. (I give her wheatgrass from the health food store to shred, which keeps her from completely going to town on my one remaining houseplant. When I walk her outside, she spends the whole time shredding grass, apparently just for the joy of doing it.)

good news?

Last night's dinner had zero leftovers. I used aloo gogi spicing on cauliflower, potatoes, and green beans, but oiled and roasted them instead of standing at the stove forever.

Turkey meatloaves in a muffin pan were a big hit. *G* No catsup or tomato sauce, but I'm not telling housemate what IS in it.

OVFF!!!!! Someone said they'd cover the registration fee if I came to do massages. So now I have enough to go with pledges+a little extra.

(I mean I'd've gone regardless, but this makes it that much more doable...and OMG excitement central among the collective. Because, dammit getting away will be fucking amazing.)

...

I'ma be back here knocking the rust off my vocal cords...

Also, also?

Medicle condition being discovered for the win. I now know why I have a persistent cough: Moderate sleep apnia.

While that doesn't seem like good news, let me assure you it is. Maybe now I'll sleep better, and not be so damn bitchy and always tired all the damn time.

...

On the other hand, I'll start to figure out what to do with the extra tenergy, because I tell you what, I won't know what to do with all of it at first.

This is worth adding a second reply. For the first time in a dog's age, I've been playing with the bingo ideas over on allbingo. Today, I just finished the last piece to get a BLACKOUT on the card. That's twenty-five "prompts"- color words- used in twenty-three different pieces. (Those are words I use routinely, so I doubled down because it didn't feel like a challenge for those.)

My partner has a telephone interview on the 1st for disability! His doctors are all on his side as well, which is nice. So hopefully either he goes on to the next step or he gets denied and gets to hand a lawyer a very easy case. 😁😁
