That's how we got our Midwinter Grove. When I was little, we had live (cut) Christmas trees. But Mom got tired of picking pine needles out of the green shag carpet ... in July. So we bought a huge beautiful fake tree. We missed the smell, though. So Dad bought a ball-and-burlap tree that we kept inside for a few days. Then he built a bonfire to melt the frozen ground, planted the tree, and that became our tradition for several years.
