It's the first day of NaNoWriMo. Here is an opportunity to point interested readers toward whatever you're doing, whether that's posting the whole thing, excerpts, discussions, or just tearing your hair out and begging for moral support. What are friends for, eh? Below is a template which you can use, or just post whatever you want. If you already said this stuff earlier, you can copy it in a comment here. Feel free to use the template elsewhere or link to these posts. You don't have to fill out the whole thing, especially if any of it is stressful or irrelevant. This is a high-inspiration, low-stress support thread.

Title of novel: Let Me Fade
Genre: fan fic, canon divergent slice of life
Brief summary: “I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made, you have to make your own.”
Your goal: two chapters posted (minimum - more would be awesome)
Your wordcount today: 800(ish) typed last night with more to type today
Your wordcount total so far: just shy of 12,000 words between the fic (roughly 10,000 words posted) and three not!fic pieces (roughly 2000 words posted)
Do you want constructive criticism? yeah, any feedback is shiny
Other NaNoWriMo authors / projects you're following: none as yet
Anything else you want to share: This is a WIP that's been stalled at chapter 9/25 since 2016 and I'd like to have it finished at some point. I'm also doing my own editing so it's possible that there are some stray mistakes that have sneaked in.
Go you!
Date: 2018-11-02 04:53 am (UTC)That is good advice in general.

Title of novel: Double Trouble, Triple Threat
Genre: Miraculous Ladybug fanfiction
Brief summary: "Marinette?" asked Ladybug, glancing at the ladybug-brought friend between us with wide eyes and creased brow, and something about Ladybug's tone of voice—
"Adrien?" squawked—my own voice, as I'd heard it on recordings. Chat Noir's voice, coming from a familiar face wearing Chat Noir's mask, behind which those absurdly green eyes darted between Ladybug and Marinette and me and—I turned my head—there was no mistaking the face I saw in the mirror every day.
"What the heck is going on here?" demanded Adrien, gawking between me and Chat.
Your goal: A complete novel-length fic draft at the end of the month.
Your wordcount today: 53 (but I haven't had coffee yet)
Your wordcount total so far: 53 (counting only words in November, and see above)
Do you want constructive criticism? yeah, but you'll have to tell me you want to see the in-progress first, I'm not posting more than sentences here and there outside my filter until I'm ready to post the whole thing publicly
Other NaNoWriMo authors / projects you're following: lots
Anything else you want to share: Historically, I fly by the seat of my pants. Historically, the statement "I will complete this novel draft" is pants on fire. But this year, I have an outline. :D
Yay!
Date: 2018-11-02 04:54 am (UTC)Don't get your hopes up too high.
Date: 2018-11-01 07:09 pm (UTC)Link to your project's landing page: Right here.
Link to your NaNoWriMo page: The site constantly eats my information so there isn't much there.
Title of novel: TBD
Genre: Urban Fantasy // Superhero stuff.
Brief summary: She's a reformed almost super-villain slipping into the life of a tiny town on the coast where she plans to rebuild a dilapidated old cottage and grow succulents. Her nest-door-neighbors (hahah!) are a flock of human-level intelligence ravens who want her advice on turning their treasure-hunting activities into a viable business so they can buy their land and keep developers from tearing down their rookery.
Your goal: 50k or so.
Your wordcount today: Nothing.
Your wordcount total so far: Also nothing.
Do you want constructive criticism? Suuuure.
Other NaNoWriMo authors / projects you're following:
Anything else you want to share: The capital of Nebraska is Lincoln.

Title of novel: 'Wicked Wolves'
Genre: fantasy/fairy tale re-telling
Brief summary: The sequel to my 2015 NaNo win 'House of Red'. Here is the description for 'House of Red': "Once upon a time...we all know the classic stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Hansel and Gretel. Now read about what really happened to Red, Snow and the Witch in this fantasy re-telling involving werewolves, magic and a Huntsman who is not who he seems."
The sequel brings the main heroes back but there will be new characters, fresh adventures and another dastardly villain to contend with!
Your goal: 50,000 words by November 30th and finishing this story in order to self-publish it.
Your word count today: 2,156
Your word count total so far: 2,156
Do you want constructive criticism? - Um...yes? As long as you've got something nice/positive to say too.
Anything else you want to share: Let's do this!

Title of novel: Working title is DS Thewlis's No Good, Very Bad Case, but I'm thinking of Human/Nature as a catchier title as human vs. humane and climate change are major themes.
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Brief summary:
DS Karen Thewlis believes she's hunting down a serial killer who's claimed nine young lives. Turns out the body count is much higher than she could have imagined, but the other victims aren't human. Now she has to work with two supernatural cops if she wants to bring the killers to justice.
Your goal: First draft or bust!
Your wordcount today: not good.
Your wordcount total so far: I'm starting at zero for NaNo purposes, so not good.
Do you want constructive criticism? Not at this stage.
Other NaNoWriMo authors / projects you're following: I have a few peeps on my flist.
Anything else you want to share: I've been anonymously sharing snippets while writing my proto-draft, which makes me wonder if I'm going to come across anyone out there who's like "...wait."
Wow!

Title of novel: The Ballad of Prince Alex and King Greg
Genre: RPF Fanfic / Epic Poetry
Brief summary: It's a bit too complicated to keep it really brief, but at its most basic, it's a near-future Royal AU, mixed with dystopia, mythology, giants, and dragons, with a ~grand romance~. <3 Have a longer, slightly more rambly summary here.
Your goal: 50k words
Your wordcount today: 713, but I still need to do some more this evening to keep on track.
Your wordcount total so far: 2962
Anything else you want to share: I'm handwriting this year, which is going to require buying a lot of pens, but I find it's easier to keep track of such a long poem. Also, the B5 notebooks I have can fit one verse per page, which also helps. I've actually bothered to do outlining for once, and it's helping me figure out how to structure this and keep it moving if I find myself stuck. Which never works for my prose novels, so. We'll see how this goes. I've never done a poem like this before, not this long anyway, so. Let's see if I can actually finish this. :D
I don't know if I'll be posting regular updates on my DW journal, but you might find me spamming NaNo-related things and possibly daily word count things on my twitter, if you want to follow me over there.
Go you!

Title of novel: see above on links, but also, I'm working on a novel tentatively titled "Blue Rose". I also have a dormant novel from last year titled "The Auspice of Snakes" but it's unlikely I'll find time to work on it this year.
Genre: political fantasy, on the whole.
Brief summary: "Decline and Fall" is fanfic, and the chronicle of a severely dysfunctional relationship, against the backdrop of a dictatorial regime and looming revolution. "Turncoat Chronicle" is the story of a missing heir returned to claim their rightful throne, but told from the POV of the villain. "Blue Rose" is the story of two step-siblings reconnecting after years apart, against the backdrop of an imperial political conspiracy.
Your goal: work up a good writing routine while working full time, get at least a couple thousand words down on TC, don't give up.
Your wordcount today: 616 so far, but I'm not nearly done. Hopefully.
Your wordcount total so far: 1505.
Go you!
Date: 2018-11-02 07:12 pm (UTC)My main batch of political fantasy is The Ocracies. I got bored with monarchies ...
