Good News

Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile?

Renewed at work, with a bit of a pay rise...

Blackout curtains are working, which, given what time of year it is, are IMPORTANT...

So's the primary relationship, despite all the stress...

... and I had a very nice weekend full of self-care and good people...

And learnt, more or less, that if E.T. or Tim or a Little Green Man were to come wandering in, that I would neither flip my shit, nor fanboy all over them... further deponent sayeth not, because privacy maintains.

Did you know that if you cram in extra ones, they work as soundproofing? The folds and fabric muffle sound waves. It's not total, but it can be enough to make the difference between sleeping or not sleeping.

Technically this isn't my good news, but the fall-out affects me, so.. my daughter has managed [after 3 years] to secure herself a job. It's part-time, and at the same place my beloved works [although probably not the same department]. This is good news for me, because she's in a much better head-space for now, and it gets her out of the house and doing stuff of an afternoon.. so I get the house to myself!

The other good news is that my beloved bagged a drill press [something that's been on my wishlist for ages] for £1.50 [!!] at the car boot sale last weekend, and it came with a cool 50/60's vintage drill. So I've been quietly restoring those. So, I not only get a useful tool out of it, but a fun restoration project. [yes, I find that sort of thing fun. I like rescuing old tools/things and giving them new life.]

Found a guitar which does not mess with my thumb. After having joint problems my entire life, this doesn't increase my pain beyond baseline ("normal"-person-3 or so), and I can literally sit down and play for hours at a time. I've got probably a dozen classic filk songs under my belt, and one of my own in the works.

That reminds me: need to go grab Little Bear for a practice session when I finish my computer stuff in another ten minutes.

ETA: weather's nice enough today that I should be able to get out my new woodburner for some practice!

I almost overlooked the fact that my birthday last month (8th May) was also the exact 40 years since GCS! :o)

That brush pen someone here linked me to came in, and it's real good fun. I spent probably an hour playing with ink last night, which was a nice reminder of why I like to do that. I took pictures, and will attempt to post them later on.

The spousal unit came home and reported an injury gotten in a rather silly manner. I got spooked and fussed about workplace safety and not doing foolish things. They then explained that it was not nearly as severe as it could have been, because the spousal unit avoided panic and acted sensibly to stop the harm before it got worse.

This resulted in a productive conversation about them thinking through stuff that can cause injury, and about me reacting better. I'll call it a win.

I have had three clients out of the Massage Advantage deal. ... all pretty much in a week.

I've already taken two of them-the third will be July 9th. ... Hopefully this'll be a trickle that turns into a stream. Because damn it feels good.

I got an offer for a salaried permanent position for my job! An upgrade from the temp, hourly pay position that it was before. It was a 'try it and see how you do ' situation as I was moving laterally from one job field to another.

We are all working towards working smoothly as a team in the office. We are even planning a dance flash mob in the local mall for a national dance day.

The other jewish person at work said Shalom to me today, which made me smile. :) I say, the other jewish person, because it is really likely that we are the only 2 Jewish people in the building.

I started my bullet journal in a new notebook the other day, and I am really enjoying it so far.

I will have 2 days off next week for my birthday & the holiday!

One of the things that amuses me about Kenzie's storyline is everyone in Rocky Boy's knows that there are exactly three redheads on the reservation and who they are: Big Chipmunk, Corsen Aufroy, and now Kenzie. Big Chipmunk is Chippewa-Cherokee, Corsen is Welsh-French, and Kenzie is Irish. When you've got a rare trait, it stands out.

Funnily enough, he just started saying it to me. I don't wear a star of david or anything, so I kinda wonder what gave it way. Most people are surprised when I tell them or when it comes up in conversation.
