I got this from bodhifox who evidently got it from silverstah. The idea is to post an icon which embodies some esoteric or obscure bit of knowledge, and see who knows what it is.
Looks like the pan from a bee hive to me, with honey dripping.
You're just taunting me with "escutcheon." Though now I seriously want someone to write a poem about a farmer boy who went to a just war with only the pan from his beehive for a shield, and when he was attacked he almost died but the bees came and defended him, and then he went on to become a hero and was given some kind of commendation and lands, and he took that on as his heraldic device to honor the bees.
I'm not a herald myself, but I don't recognize the darker area blazoned center-base. It doesn't look like a standard ordinary. It kind of looks like the crescent used for a second son's cadence mark, but just kind of.
It is not a crescent. It is not a cadency mark. It is a kind of ordinary, but probably considered more of a variant on a standard one than actually standard.
They are almost always either tarot cards, or, based on a tarot card, and they contain secret messages about what is going on with me at any given time. If someone knew the tarot well enough, and cared enough to pay attention, they tell a story.
This is one of the reasons why I love LJ so much. I can tell about 7 different stories at once.
