I had seen a lot of 'store mannequin' stories on Twilight Zone, I was comfortably waiting for a fantasy story to start. Part way through, I realized that the mannequins weren't going to start walking around and that the main character wasn't going to turn into a mannequin. Ended with a nice feeling, thinking that this is intended to be a reality based piece and, as you say, full of acts of kindness.
