Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.
What good news have you had recently?

Date: 2015-11-26 04:15 am (UTC)I actually have a lesbian planet, Gomorrah; and a gay planet, Sodom; in my main SF universe. They are nice places to live. Other colonies in that general vicinity include Common Ground, Picture This!, Jericho, and Promised Land. People are free to move around if they want to.

Date: 2015-11-26 08:45 pm (UTC)Well, they wound up with something they never could have afforded: a star system with two habitable planets. Gomorrah is a little closer to the sun, warm and wet, an ocean world with one island continent (Lesbos) and many smaller islands. It's also a bit bigger than Earth with slightly heavier gravity. It was settled mostly by lesbians. Sodom is a little farther from the sun, cool and dry, mostly desert with some rather awesome lifeforms that run on solar power. It's a bit smaller than Earth with lighter gravity. It was settled mostly by gay men. The other flavors of sexuality have sorted themselves out here and there, but it's not a rigid division. The space station over Sodom is Sanadu. The one at the edge of the system is Rainbow Zenned.
There's a steady flow of people moving in and sometimes out. The immigrants from less-queer-friendly places help keep the numbers up, as queerfolk have a lower percentage of breeders than hetfolk. There are, of course, hetfolk too and that's considered perfectly okay (if a little quirky) but some of them do decide to leave. So the queers stay in the majority.
The Freedom System is a lovely place to live.

Date: 2015-11-26 08:52 pm (UTC)Given that you may not be familiar with horses, I recommend the coldbloods -- draft horses. They've big, but also tend to be slow, gentle, and careful about where they move. Clydesdales are nice and mellow. Gypsy Vanners are bred for intelligence, gentleness, showmanship, and enough strength to pull a vardo.

Date: 2015-11-26 02:58 pm (UTC)That, and I seem to have intimidated my computer into working... don't ask me why, but it's ok now. I guess threatening to do a complete wipe and re-install scared her into behaving.

2) Although Heaven will not allow us the pleasure of picking our birth family, we are allowed to pick our friends.
Yes.
These two things make me very happy.
