ysabetwordsmith: (Schrodinger's Heroes)

Previously I introduced the imaginary fandom of the apocryphal television show Schrodinger's Heroes. You can start by reading a script of the first ad, "Alex and Bailey in the Closet" and the descriptive post "About the Show." Here is the script of the fourth advance advertisement, aired before part two of the pilot ...

"Bailey Brings Morgan to the Compound"

[As usual, there is just a black screen with the two character voices. Bailey sounds perky. Morgan sounds slightly out of breath, as if they've been walking awhile. Crickets chirp in the background at first.]

Bailey: "We're almost there."

Morgan: "I stay with you. Alex hooked me with that description of quantum mechanics gone wrong. I'm not about to let go of this opportunity now."

Bailey: "Alex said you two knew each other from some symposium or other. I wasn't sure you'd want to come all the way from Mauna Kea Observatories, though."

Morgan: "I would have come even if I had to paddle across the Pacific in my own canoe."

Bailey, "Well, here we are." [Sound of door opening.]

Morgan: "Alex the millionaire forgot to pay the light bill?" [Sound of door closing; crickets fall silent.]

Bailey: "No, no, no -- Alex doesn't pay the bills, I pay the bills. Alex only gives me the money." [A loud clatter sounds from the floor.] "And I did pay to have the electricity hooked up, Ash just blew it out this afternoon. She's a great tech, really, but she hasn't learned when to say no to Alex -- or at least wait."

[Sound of something skittering.]

Morgan: " 'Ey! What was that?"

Bailey: "Probably a mouse."

Morgan: "You have mice in a jillion-dollar science compound?"

Bailey: "Also rats, scorpions, armadillos, rattlesnakes, and roaches. Welcome to Texas, lady. Watch your step."

* * *

Morgan comes from Hawai'i; she speaks English, Japanese, and Hawaiian (both 'Ōlelo Hawaiʻi and pidgin). Stay is the pidgin marker for continuing tense, rather like "still," so: "I'm still with you." 'Ey is "hey."

:-D It's really true. I grew up in Arizona and that was true there too for the most part. Been in and out of El Paso several times too, so I really appreciated that detail.

I was wondering, why the black screens for the promo materials? It seems, counterintuitive.
