Ugh. Yeah, according to one prediction scale, there's a chance my area will turn into a rainforest. Which is not what I want since I came up here for the cold and to avoid most of the bugs! I'd move to the scrublands if it meant keeping a job in a roach-hostile environment.
Given how I live around an area that got hit hard by Irene, no one here really likes to think about it. I suppose the only good thing about it is at least it means I could plant that squash with the tomatoes though, HA!
I have pointed out that humanity's impact on the Earth is roughly equivalent to that of a large coment or cataclysmic volcanism, in terms of the environmental devastation wreaked, species extinct, etc. This is not exaggeration, but rather based on scientific analysis and arguments for the Anthropocene. :/

Over the last forty years, my area has changed from Zone 5b to Zone 6a. Presumably in another forty it will be at least 6b if not warmer. :/

My sympathies.

Desert, arctic, or montaine are excellent options for escaping roaches.
I've seen predictions that put the Midwest as uninhabitably hot in 200-250 years.

Bummer.

Heh, yeah.
