Good plan, and I'm glad it worked out.
>> The reactions are complex, which I appreciate (and usually prefer) and which also helps shift focus away from the event to its effects. <<
I write a lot of "emotionally complex response" material. Come to think of it, I'm also prone to dwelling on the aftermath far more than the original horrid incident.

That's good to hear. Things like this can take a long time to work through, and I enjoy exploring the process.
>> These concepts /all/ need more discussion in our society, rather than sweeping them under the rug as things which happen Somewhere Else to Other People. <<
Agreed. There are two aspects worth highlighting, though:
* Some people feel that bad things which don't happen to them are of no concern. Others feel that bad things shouldn't happen to anyone.
* It's often easier to deal with serious issues at a safe remove, so speculative fiction can help a lot.

*bow, flourish* Happy to be of service.
>> OH, and please add in the header that I am willing to discuss this with a hesitant reader without giving spoilers, as this /is/ more intense than the Schrodinger's story which follows these events. <<

Added, and thank you for that support.
