>> Oh, it's amazing how fast things can head south. Things were going so well, but I guess that's the way of things. <<
There are a number of split-second crash and burn turnarounds in this story. Part of that is just the sheer number of emotional landmines; part is Bucky's flippant side; and part is because he's new to the team so doesn't already know people's main triggers to avoid.
>> Tony really is trying so hard in this story, but with those two something was probably bound to happen again sooner or later. <<
It's inevitable that there will be this kind of backlash because of the hasty connection that Tony made with Bucky. It put Tony way outside his comfort zone, which leaves him vulnerable, which is a recipe for disaster. But that connection is a fundamental part of their relationship.
>> At least Bucky realizes when he's misstepped and wants to make things right. Although I can't see things going as easily as last time Bucky and Tony had a problem, at least that should help. <<
Well, it's going to be rough on Tony, but most of the fallout will be over by the time Bucky sees him again. It wasn't, really, Bucky himself who caused this problem -- he just triggered a giant pile of crud that some other people stacked up in the past.
