Today we hosted a Samhain event, with a total of 12 people. We started out with some meditation activities. We played the "Who Am I?" game with deities and mythic concepts stuck on people's backs. The pumpkin carving was a lot of fun -- we had a cat, a couple of scary faces, a biohazard sign, a goddess, and one person brought a squash instead of a gourd and decorated it with leaves and stars. Feast was really impressive: spaghetti & meatballs, lentil dal, noodle kugel, potato soup, potato salad, cinnamon-spiced apples, hot rolls, pumpkin cheesecake, fudge, English trifle, pumpkin pie, and blackberry-cream cheese pie. The ritual took advantage of the thinning boundaries between worlds to interact with the Other Side. We also had an especially powerful drum circle. In addition to having a great selection of cooks, we're building up a good number of musicians now, which is nice. Feedback was strongly positive; people found it an effective experience. I am well pleased.
