Today is mostly sunny and cold.
I fed the birds. I've seen a few sparrows and a male cardinal. They had drained the hopper feeder, though, and both suet cages. I put out a new peanut suet cake.
I put out water for the birds.
I checked the composed manure but it is frozen solid. :/ So I'll go back to filling little pots.
EDIT 3/2/25 -- I set up 10 pots in a tray.
Then I remembered that I needed to take pictures around the yard, so I did that. I flushed a rabbit from the Midwinter Grove.
I've seen several starlings and a flock of mourning doves. I heard a woodpecker drumming high overhead and managed to spot it. :D
EDIT 3/2/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
I've seen a large flock of sparrows, a flock of mourning doves, several starlings, and a male cardinal mobbing the feeders in the forest garden.
EDIT 3/2/25 -- I managed to pour some of the potting mix into a bucket. I put the bucket on the step below the door, dragged the bag to the door, cut open the bag, and directed the flow into the bucket. Physics is your friend!
EDIT 3/2/25 -- I made labels. I filled 10 pots with potting mix. Then I planted 5 pots with
Shithouse Marigolds and 5 with giant marigolds from the
Charleston Food Forest.
EDIT 3/2/25 -- I watered the new pots, and as long as I was at it, all the other flats too.
Since I was outside at dusk, I took a few more pictures of the sunset and the crescent moon.
I am done for the night.
